Antique Portrait Engraving of Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector

Historical portrait engraving depicting Oliver Cromwell (1599–1658) in military armor holding a command baton, framed by an elaborate oval border, heraldic decoration, and a cartouche identifying him as Lord Protector of England, Scotland and Ireland. A landscape and military encampment appear behind the sitter. The engraved date 1653 refers to Cromwell's assumption of the Protectorate and does not establish the printing date.

Engraving on paper. Visible age toning and minor edge irregularities consistent with age. Artist, printing date, and dimensions require verification. One example available.
