Antique French Engraving — Priest and Magician of Virginia

Antique French copperplate engraving depicting Indigenous ceremonial figures of early Virginia, titled Prêtre de la Virginie and Magicien de la Virginie. Three detailed illustrations show two views of a priest and a dramatically posed figure identified in the historical caption as a magician, against river landscapes with canoes and distant figures. An evocative piece of early Americana and the history of European representations of Indigenous cultures.
